Google Buzz & Another Cartoon

Google Buzz & Another Cartoon

Posted on 09. Feb, 2010 by Andrew Watson in Google

Missed this one coming… but Google has just unwrapped its latest social network, called as Buzz. The service is a little different to the likes of Twitter and Facebook, being integrated directly with its Gmail e-mail service, although common communication tools are available.

Buzz will allow its 170 million user network to post status updates, share content and read and comment on friends posts, without needing to leave the gmail interface, pitching Google directly against rival networks such as Facebook.

On mobile / cell phones, Buzz becomes even more interesting as Google maps integration, tags users posts with current locations.

It should be remembered that this is not Google’s first foray into social networking or social tools, we have seen Orkut and Google Wave, neither becoming as mainstream as Facebook, and it will remain to be seen if they can make a dent in the now established channels of Facebook and Twitter.

Oh and here is another Google cartoon explaining it:
