Working closely within the toy industry, this blog sometimes seems to be filled with articles about the latest toys, top toys, new games etc… so it is perhaps inevitable that as we draw closer to Chritmas 2008 more articles will be added focussed on some of the games to look out for… that’ll keep my Friday Fun comments going until the end of the year – lol.

Why is this interesting and who might care? Well there seems to be an enormous amount of press based on electronic toys and video consoles and little on old-school toys and games that kids and families can engage and interact with.

One of my favourite manufacturers is Tomy and this year with friends and family all seemingly giving birth before Christmas it is the first place I think of visiting! There are the usual nursery products that Tomy are well known for but for me the range that has caught my eye is the Discovery range.

With a 5 year old kid who has zipped through most of the Tomy range, not only are the products great value for money (they never stop being played with), there are constantly new and more exciting toys available. Thomas Motor Road & Rail has been played with till death for 2 years and now with the new Track Master sets, I can see at least another 12 months of play… that is unless my fatherly excitement gets the better of me and I can’t resist the worlds smallest mass produced robot – I-Sobot.
