Microsoft Surface – ‘Ultimate Table’

Microsoft Surface is one of those pieces of technology that marks a milestone. It takes a leap into the natural convergence that we will all see over the next few years. As screens get smaller and lighter and processors get smaller and faster, they will appear in more and more places and table tops provide a great surface to utilise.
As with all technology there will be a period of 12-18 months where people work out the basics or what Surface can bring and deliver, but once prices start to come down and smaller businesses start to think, develop and utilse the platform, the future could be really very interesting especially once the platform is pushed to its limits.
So far we have seen demos of bars and restaurants showing menus and allowing devices to communicate with Surface… but there are many more applications that Surface could be used for… from estate agents (real estate) to travel companies to flicking through store brochures… and that is where Surface could make the biggest difference… all of those currently use a mountain of paper – Surface finally allows technology to replace paper and that marks a milestone.
