If you an small / medium sized business (SME) and are new to developing a website and would like some idea of where to start, then I hope this list will help you to get the most from your initial budget.

  1. Develop a basic web site (if you are not interested in an e-commerce site, this link will give you some more ideas)
  2. Consider setting up a blog like this website
  3. Consider advertising options
  4. Get your search engine optimisation correct from day 1
  5. Consider Pay-Per-Click advertising
  6. Learn how to use email and plan email mailings
  7. Start collecting email addresses of contacts and customers

I will be writting a little more on each of the above points, and as such the list above may alter.
