Microsoft create the ‘Ultimate Keyboard’ ?

microsoft-8000-keyboardThis looks like one of the most interesting developments to the computer keyboard since they went wireless. I am a big fan of Microsoft technology; mice, joysticks, webcams and keyboards work really well, and are very comfortable to use – so naturally I am interested in seeing the new wireless keyboard from Microsoft when it is released.

Microsoft teaser text reads: Microsoft Hardware is pushing the innovation envelope and introducing industry firsts to help you move from work to play with cutting-edge performance and total style.

Can a keyboard create its own mood lighting? Respond to you? Enlighten you? Move with you? Apparently the ultimate desktop can with ambient backlighting, proximity sensing and 30-feet of range. I quite like the ambient backlighting idea, I often work late into the night and quite like the idea of being able to tap away with lights dimmed low… is it the ultimate – no - I can think of a million things my keyboard needs to do to become the ultimate… and different people will have there own ‘ultimate’ criteria. Microsoft should not forget where they have come from… PC hardware actually works as expected… why not just call it ‘another awesome keyboard from Microsoft’.
