Search Engine Optimisation - Part 1

Over the years I have found that many colleagues have very little understanding of search engine optimisation (SEO). The more that I try and explain it, the more I feel like I am going back to start and having to explain it all again.

This is where I hope to use my blog to its full advantage and list some of the do’s and don’t and try to demystify some of the nonsense spoken about when looking at SEO.

CNET.co.uk - Technology Review Site

CNET.co.uk is a great technology review site. It has been around since around 2000 and should be one of those places you visit before purchasing any electrical / technical equipment - digital cameras, tvs, dvds, games consoles, mp3s, mobiles.

For some time now I have been using CNET.com, but they have now brought us a site with a UK flavour !!!

And for those that can’t wait for the latest technology to be available in stores etc the Crave section of the site is ahead of the game for preview and reviews of what is available and coming soon.

2006 - Less prickly Than 2005 - I hope…

‘Happy New Year’ to all… yes all the 6 billion people in the world ! Why do I start my blog that way:

• It is a new year
• Although 2005 was a pretty prickly year for me, I firmly believe (more than ever) treat people as you would expect others to treat you !

So 2005 saw me separate from my wife and hopefully 2006 will see the divorce complete… these things happen… at least the process will not be starting this year :)… and then at the end of 2005 I was made redundant for no good reason… hopefully this will not repeat itself in 2006 !!!

So now to my blog…
Essentially I set it up to try the ‘corporate blogging’ phenomenon that I read about so often… it kinda worked… but since I am no longer with my former employer… I thought I would use it for ’stimulating conversation’… well I can try… and my first try at using Google Adwords on my blog… if you have read this blog, give me some encouragement to write something more interesting by visiting an Adword link on the right !!! And Happy New year To You All !!!

3D Sports - UK ecommerce

Sport and websites seems to be a recurring theme in projects that I have worked on since 1999 when I designed and developed clikcricket.com. In 2006 I was responsible for the design and rebuild of www.3dsports.co.uk. An online sports retail site in the UK.

Emart - Online Retail

Emart was a website that I created in 2005, for Emart, based in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. It encompassed an ecommerce platform for 500,000+ products across 11 specific department stores.

Unfortunately Emart ceased trading in the style developed at the end of 2005… and lives on here as a reference to those who worked at Emart, and an example of one of the UK’s largest e-commerce trading platforms.

Welcome to my blog… well version 2 of the blog.

Having started making blog posts in 2004, I moved in 2005 to the blogger platform, I thought it time to take total control of my blog and the look and feel of it. So creativecog.com is now the home for the blog of Andrew Watson.

Once again, the aim of my blog is to journal my thoughts and views on projects, technology and the industry as a whole… please feel free to email me or make comments as you see fit. Some previous posts have been included from my Blogger blog and over time I may just move everything into one home.
